Burial and Cremation Law

Posted by John Rotherham on 29/03/2007 - 09:55

Much of the UK's legislation relating to the disposal of the dead dates from the 19th Century. For anyone not involved with it on a day-to-day basis the law is complex, obscure and outdated. It is desperately in need of revision and codification.

Although the Department of Constitutional Affairs is currently involved in a review, there appears to be little likelihood of new primary legislation. Unfortunately, this is not an area of the law that has popular appeal, but it is important for those who are affected.
